Group Obedience Classes: Bringing In Results and Practicality!

Here in Cincinnati, I take great pride in being a professional in-home dog trainer. Still, professionally and personally, I never want to limit myself. With my training career, I have seen and achieved the great results and benefits from private in-home dog training, as it offers individual attention and starts in the dog’s most comfortable environment—their home. However, while I can sing the praises of in-home training, this does not mean that structures like a group class is not helpful. In many cases, some dog owners prefer this setting, and many dogs can really grow in a group atmosphere!

Group classes will teach your dog to behave in all environments with all kinds of distractions!

There are many offerings of group classes out there, in all different levels. One of the key benefits of a group class is the dog is able to be exposed to the other canine and human students, allowing them to socialize while also learn. While this could backfire in certain cases, many group classes have strict prerequisites for dogs so that bad incidents can be prevented. Socialization is very important for a dog, especially when they are puppies. Through this, they can learn to NOT be fearful or nervous around strangers, thus avoiding risks of anxiety and even aggression.

Because there are so many options of group classes out there, I want to ensure that what I am offering exceeds the normal standards. With a name like Raise the Bar Dog Training, you betcha that I am going to go beyond the average when it comes to my clients and their beloved dogs!

That’s why I brought in the Practical Pet Protocol here in to the Cincinnati area. With this group training program, not only will dogs learn commands like “Sit” and “Down”, but they’ll learn “Heel” and good leash behavior. They will learn “Stay” and how to demonstrate impulse control. Most importantly, owners will learn how to teach their dogs this, both in the class or in the home. With all of my training, I expect the good learned behavior to be carried out in other environments, whether it’s at the vet’s office, at the local park, on a busy street, wherever! Good behavior is not limited to just the classroom…owners will be given many resources so that they can practically utilize these training techniques anywhere, thus showing the dog that proper behaviors are expected all the time.

Some dogs may not do so well in a group environment, mainly due to safety precautions and to ensure we are not setting the dog up for failure and more anxiety. If a group class is not fit for a client’s dog, I am still happy to enroll them in a private training session, so that they can receive the special training that they need. Dogs that need to learn new basic behavior patterns would be great for the Practical Pet Protocol. Owners that want to learn how to handle their own dog and be able to show their dog how to succeed anywhere in life should definitely sign up!

Group classes allow socialization and a controlled learning environment for dogs. I want to offer that to both dog and owner, and show them not only to have fun and socialize, but to learn and adopt appropriate behaviors in general.
